Luis Bárcenas has to declare with the P.P. deputy Jesús Merino as 'provisionally charged' in the Gürtel caseThe Supreme Court judge, Francisco Monterde, who is instructing the Gürtel case, has called the Partido Popular senator and national treasurer, Luis Bárcenas, to appear before him on Wednesday next week.
Also called to declare the following day is the Madrid P.P. regional deputy, Jesús Merino.
They will declare as being ‘provisionally charged’.
A statement from Judge Monterde notes that the Supreme Court has received documents on the case from the TSJM, the Madrid High Court, and has issued reporting restrictions.
It comes after reports that the Madrid High Court judge, Antonio Pedreira, is following the money linked to the businesses owned by Francisco Correa, and has asked for information from the authorities in five different countries.
The Partido Popular has welcomed the news, saying it will give the men the opportunity to show their innocence to the court.
