Ecuador government offers help to stop woman auctioning her virginity in Spain

The woman from Ecuador who’s put her virginity for sale on the Internet in Spain to raise funds to help her sick mother is being offered help from her country’s government to allow her to cancel the auction.

28 year old Evelyn has lived in Costera, Valencia, for seven years and her part-time work as a cleaner makes it impossible for her to send enough money home to cover the cost of the specialist that her mother needs. She turned down the highest offer received to date in the online auction – 2.3 million € - as the bidder in question, as El Mundo reports, wanted to continue seeing her after the date.

The Ecuadorean authorities in Spain are now trying to arrange a meeting with Evelyn to discuss her family’s situation and her mother’s health, and what can be done to help her to undergo specialist treatment. El Mundo also mentions the possibility of a grant from the Ecuadorean state to allow Evelyn to go ahead with her dream of studying medicine.
