A Civil Guard officer is in Intensive Care in Málaga after a boating accident off a beach in Nerja on Monday afternoon. His condition is described as serious after being caught in the legs and abdomen by the boat’s propeller while falling into the sea.

Diario Sur reports the officer to be based in Zaragoza, and was in the area with colleagues to attend an event in Almuñécar, along the coast to the east in Granada province. He underwent emergency surgery on Monday night.
