Alicante flight to Moscow makes emergency landing in Italy

A Boeing 757-200 on route from Alicante to Moscow was forced to make an emergency landing in Italy this weekend after one of the plane’s engines caught fire mid-flight. The Vesti news channel in Russia said the crew decided to make for the nearest airport when a warning light flashed for the aircraft’s right engine and some of the passengers said they saw a flash near the engine.

EFE said the Vim-avia plane landed in Rimini, northern Italy, without any problems and the crew and 225 passengers were safely evacuated.
