A woman is taking legal action against the Murcia Health Service, the SMS, claiming that she became pregnant after her doctor mistakenly prescribed her other medication in place of the contraceptive pills she had asked for. Named by Europa Press as 25 year old M.M.M., she only discovered on a visit to a private doctor after she had been taking the pills for some time that she had, in fact, been given medication for the menopause and osteoporosis.
She was also told that she was almost one month pregnant.
The medication she was prescribed is ‘Duofemme’, which the news agency said should not be taken while pregnant.
The legal department of the Murcia Patient Ombudsman is acting on behalf of the couple and it’s understood has said that there is some risk of the foetus developing physical problems if the mother takes Duofemme while pregnant.
