An appeal for bail from Francisco Correa has been rejected

The director of the regional television channel Canal 9 in Valencia, has resigned. Pedro García has been accused in the Gürtel case of receiving gifts of clothing from Orange Market, one of the companies at the centre of the corruption allegations affecting the Partido Popular. The President of Orange Market, Álvaro Pérez, known as ‘El Bigotes’, is known to be a close friend of Pedro García.

The case has hardly received any coverage on the regional TV and radio channels, with just a brief mention of it once the case was passed on to the Supreme Court.
García was a journalist before accepting the post and had worked as press chief for both PP politicians Eduardo Zaplana and Francisco Camps.

Meanwhile Camps has announced a cabinet reshuffle in his regional Valencian government, promoting those members who have been most faithful to him during the Gürtel case.

has seen his appeal for bail rejected. His defence team had claimed that ‘seven months in prison is enough for a presumably innocent man’, but the appeal was rejected with the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor claiming there was still the risk of evidence being destroyed and a risk of flight.
