Rain and strong winds in the North while the sun remains out in the South

The Spanish Meteorological Agency alert map is painted yellow and orange this morning.
All the northern coast is on orange alert for high winds and heavy rain, and much of the NE of the country is on yellow alert for high winds, as far south as the Valencia region and also affecting Mallorca.
There is also a yellow alert for high winds today along the Costa del Sol, Costa Tropical and part of the Costa Almería.

Rain wise the country splits into north and south again, with the latter seeing another day of long sunny periods and mild temperatures. In the north the heaviest rain is forecast later in the day.

Moderate W or NW winds across the peninsular, but with strong gusts in the NE and on high ground, and also in places along the Andalucian Mediterranean coast.

Highs: Alicante, Murcia 28, Valencia 26, Santa Cruz de Tenerife 25, Málaga 24, Almería 23, Cádiz Palma de Mallorca 22, Barcelona, Granada 20, Madrid 17
Lows: Santa Cruz de Tenerife 20, Málaga 18, Almería 16, Barcelona, Cádiz, Palma de Mallorca, Valencia 15, Alicante Murcia 14, Madrid 11, Granada 6,

Outlook:
Cooler from tomorrow on the Costa del Sol and with more cloud but remaining generally dry. Chance of a shower on Sunday. The other holiday coasts will also see some cloudy periods in places, but there will be long sunny periods and it should remain dry.
