Actor Joel Joan is presenting 11 Catalan language films in Los Angeles
There could be a foreign language film in Catalan presented to the Oscars in 2011. The Catalan Film Academy wants to present a candidate in the category, but the Oscar organisers have asked for there to be consensus in the candidate with the Spanish Academy.
Top Catalan actor Joel Joan, who is President of the Catalan Film Academy commented that presenting a film would represent a boost to both Catalan and Spanish cinema. He notes that this year some 15 feature films have been made in Catalan.
Joan is in Los Angeles currently to present a festival of 11 films in the city, with the intention of promoting a Catalan candidate in the foreign language section of the Oscars.
