The lawyer acting for the second suspect arrested in connection with the murder of Alejandro Ponsoda, the Partido Popular Mayor of Polop de la Marina killed two years ago, claims that detectives in the case are investigating the possible involvement of a person in public office.
Antonio Martínez Camacho is defending Salvador R.G., the local businessman who was arrested in Polop on Sunday, and who has now been remanded to prison. His lawyer told a reporter from Diario Información after leaving the court where his client was questioned on Wednesday that three people are believed to have been at the meeting where the murder was planned, and that the third person remains in public office today.
The two others are believed to have been his client and the first suspect arrested, Raúl M.T., the wanted criminal who was arrested Albatera on 5th November. The meeting is believed to have taken place at an alternative nightclub in Finestrat, whose Uruguayan manager became to be the third suspect to be taken into custody when he was arrested this Tuesday.
The lawyer also indicated to journalists that there are protected witnesses in the case. He has come under criticism from the central government delegate for Valencia, Ricardo Peralta, for his indiscretion in revealing details of a case which is governed by secrecy.
