The Benidorm Theme Park is expected to see a deal done by the end of the yearThree companies are bidding to rent the Terra Mítica theme park in Benidorm under a plan which gives them all the option to buy after a 5-10 year period. The three bids are from Parques Reunidos, the Benidorm Aqualandia group, and Aspro.
The main shareholders in the park, the
Consell, and the CAM and Bancaja savings banks, want to get the deal done by the end of the year.
Details of the bids are expected to be made public on Friday.
420 million € have been invested in the park which has had to sell off some land to meet some of its financial obligations. The Regional Generalitat Government has meanwhile gave a 16 million € credit to the park so that a suspension of payments could be lifted in July 2006.
The park is estimated to have lost 15 million € last year, after visitor numbers fell by more than 100,000.
