A 30 year old man from Bolivia jumped to his death from a block in Algeciras early on Monday in a panic move to escape arrest by police. Named by El Mundo as R.I.O., he was in his ex wife’s home at the time he jumped, in defiance of three distancing orders for abuse.
He is understood to have jumped from her eighth floor balcony when he heard the approaching sirens, as local police officers responded to the call that he was in the woman’s home on Plaza Inmaculada in the city.
María Isabel García from the Victoria Kent Women’s Association told EFE that her organisation has been attending the man’s ex, a 37 year old woman from Bolivia, for the past year. She confirmed that three separate distancing orders had been ordered by the courts after the victim reported her husband for abuse.
