The Interior Ministry is drawing up new regulations on a dress code for members of the National Police. 20minutos.es has seen the six page document.
It’s the first time that such guidelines have been drawn up and police must be clean, smart, and with no bracelets or piercings. Female agents cannot use ‘outlandish or eccentric’ makeup. Men are not allowed any earrings, while women can, provided they do not reach below the ear lobe.
Hair must be washed and put up to ensure it is above the shoulders. Men’s haircuts must allow for the entire ear to be seen.
Uniform must be neat and clean and of the correct size, buttons, zips and ties must be used correctly, and any men with beards must keep them short and neat allowing the tie to be visible at all times.
Sunglasses can only be used in open places when the weather demands, and they cannot be too large.
Posture must also be maintained in line with the service.
The text of the new regulations still has to be approved.
