A single goal separated the two teams in a balanced match at the Camp Nou

A single goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 55th minute was enough to give Barcelona the three points against Real Madrid in the clásico at the Camp Nou on Sunday night.

Barça played with ten men from the 62nd minute after Basquets was sent off for a second yellow card, but they held the lead and what’s more return to the top of the Primera Liga.

Most of Real Madrid’s best chances came in the first half as the home side struggled to find its play, and Cristiano Ronaldo let Barça off when faced with a one to one with Valdés. Good defensive play from Puyol stopped possible goals from Marcelo in the first half and Higuaín in the second.

Most commentators consider though that it was a balanced match between the two teams. Barcelona had more of the possession, but Real Madrid were the more dangerous.

Lassana was also sent off for Real Madrid in the 89th minute for a second yellow card following a late tackle on Xavi, in the last minute tensions of the game. Casillas saved a 2-0 defeat in the last seconds of injury time as Pepe picked up a cross from Alves.
