The animal rights activists say 60 mink are needed to produce just one fur coat
A group of 50 animal rights activists stripped off their clothes in Madrid’s Puerta del Sol on Sunday, lying down naked on the ground in falling rain and temperatures of no more than 5 degrees Centrigrade in a protest against the fur industry.
Organised by AnimaNaturalis, they covered their bodies in a red liquid to simulate the blood of the animals which, as one protester said, are butchered for our vanity.
He told a reporter from the EFE news agency: ‘Cruelty is not elegant. The animals need their skin. We do not’, adding that 60 mink are needed to produce just one fur coat.
