The parents had been hiding their ten year old son since temporary custody was awarded to the Galicia government

The ten year old child suffering from morbid obesity in Ourense, Galicia, was finally handed over by his parents to the Xunta regional social services who had ordered he be taken into care after receiving a medical report that he was suffering from breathing difficulties.

The ten year old had reached 83 kilos in weight, but is currently thought to be around 70 kilos.

His parents face charges of neglect and disobedience, and were also in court last week regarding his absence from school.

Sources at the Galician Government have confirmed that the child is now in a children’s centre.
