The judge instructing the real estate corruption allegations in Llíber in inland Alicante province, on Wednesday ordered prison for the ex Mayor of the municipality. José Mas was Mayor for the PP in the years 1999 to 2003.
The ex municipal Surveyor was also ordered to prison in connection to the Town Hall allowing the construction and sale of 300 villas on rustic land. Both the men face charges of bribery and fraud.
There has been a total of eight arrests in the case, with six real estate promoters also implicated, including a British man named as Trevor B, and on Wednesday the Guardia Civil also questioned the five councillors which remain from the time, including the current Socialist mayor, Juan Bautista Reus. The five were all released after questioning but will have to appear shortly before the judge.
