Spanish national football team trainer, Vicente del Bosque, has had his contract extended to 2012.
The President of the Spanish Football Federation, Ángel Villar, confirmed the news at a federation dinner on Tuesday night. Villar said that when a team has classified for the final phase of a World Cup or Eurocup, the contract for the trainer is automatically given a two year extension.
It means that Del Bosque will continue as manager for the World Cup in South Africa next year, and for the Eurocup in the Ukraine and Poland in 2012. He replaced Luis Aragonés in 2008.
Argentinean star Maradona was forced to buy a ticket and watch from the stands because of a two month FIFA ban last night as a Catalan side took on Argentina in a friendly at the Camp Nou.
The stadium was not full for the match which ended Cataluña 4, Argentina 2 and which marked the return to the venue for Johan Cruyff, ex Barcelona player and now manager of Cataluña. He told the press after the game that he had wanted to see a full stadium.
