A 30 year old local man has died in Altea after falling six metres as he was repairing a terrace.

It happened at 11am on Wednesday as he was carrying out waterproofing work on a building in a Calp urbanisation.

Información newspaper reports that he died instantly, and the death was the third fatality in the workplace in the province of Alicante in less than a week.

A CCOO union spokesman lamented that the number of deaths being caused by falls was today as high as 30 years ago, and the union announced an investigation, but said that all indications are that the man was not using a harness.
