The Junta de Andalucía has opened an internet portal to sell some 17,300 homes across the region. The project has a budget of 1 billion € and is designed to reactivate the real estate sector.
Regional Councillor for Housing and Territorial Planning, Juan Espadas, described it as the starting pistol, and explained that the property on offer would be at ‘mortgage price’ described as with a 20% discount.
Those interested in one of the properties will be able to apply for finance and measures which in total would amount to as much as a 40% discount on monthly payments over the first eight years.
There are several requirements to be met to qualify for the plan which has a top limit on mortgages on offer of 245,000 €, plus taxes. More than 80% of the 70,000 unsold properties in the region are now in the hands of banks and financial institutions.
The Junta says it wants to clear the backlog of property stock with the objective of getting the construction industry underway again in the region.
