María José Carrascosa, the mother from Valencia who has been imprisoned in the United States, has appealed against the 14 year sentence handed down against her. She was found guilty of taking her daughter out of the United States contravening the custody ruling granted to her United States ex husband by the American courts.
She considers that there are not ‘sufficient’ guarantees to any agreement reached now with her ex partner which could see her released.
Talks with the father, Peter Innes, are said to be advanced according to Carrascosa’s lawyer, but El País reports that Innes has said that he knows nothing about any talks, although he has always wanted to solve the situation.
