There are many infrastructure projects in the province which now face delaysThe cutback in central Government spending because of the crisis has been greeted with alarm in Alicante province.
Minister for Development, José Blanco, has given an undertaking that the only project which will remain untouched are the plans to bring the AVE high speed train.
However there are now doubts on the progress of other works in the province including the extension to the airport, the Júcar-Vinalopó water transfer, the desalination plant in Torrevieja and road improvements between Ibi and Alcoy. Also the 12km new link between the A-31 and A35 at Fuente la Higuera is under threat.
Reports indicate that the Ministry for Development will have to face 50% of the total cutbacks in central Government spending.
