The man who instigated the Gürtel corruption case which has affected the Partido Popular in both Madrid and Valencia, has said now put both the previous and current PP leaders in the frame.

The ex PP councillor for Majadahonda in Madrid, José Luis Peñas, said on Monday that when one speaks about the man at the centre of the affair, Francisco Correa, it was as saying José María Aznar, and also that the current PP leader, Mariano Rajoy, was fully informed about the case although now he wants to know nothing about it.

Speaking to the Cuatro TV channel, Peñas also noted that the PP was now paying for the lawyers to represent one of those facing charges in the case, Luis Bárcenas, Sentator and ex National Party Treasurer.

He described the Partido Popular has a party which wants to govern, but without telling us if it collected money in the Gürtel case or not. Peñas said he had recorded his conversations with Francisco Correa to bring the case before National Court judge, Baltasar Garzón, ‘not out of revenge against the PP’, but because he owed it to the citizens who had to know what had happened.
