Gale force winds continue in some areas

The wind on Monday blow down a 20 metre tall and more than 600 year old Juniper tree in Moral de Hornuez, Segovia. The tree trunk had a circumference of more than six metres and was one of the largest examples in the country. The tree was famous locally as some passing shepherds said they saw the Virgin appear there.

Strong or very strong Westerly winds today in Melilla and along the Mediterranean coast in Andalucía; also in the NE of the mainland and on the Baleares. Fresh snow today in the far north and on the mountains of eastern Andalucía.

Showers in the northern third of the country which will be moderate and stormy at times during the morning and persistent in Cataluña. Showers too on the Baleares.

Elsewhere cloudy intervals which will clear in the afternoon to bring some sunshine to the holiday coasts and the Baleares at times. Winds will be NW or N moderate, but with strong or very strong gusts on the Baleares, and in Cataluña.
Snow line from 600m in the North to 1300m in South.

Outlook
Unsettled conditions continue with rain on most days for the next week, although Thursday and Sunday could be dry on the Costa del Sol.
The Costa Blanca will be sunny this week, but faces snow showers as temperatures plummet on Saturday.
