Temperatures in the city have been above average for the last yearTemperatures in Málaga have been above average almost continuously for the past year. The mild autumn and winter resulted in 2009 being declared one of the six hottest years in history for the city.
The 29.3 degrees Celsius recorded on November 16 is an all-time high for Autumn, and the average temperature for the month was 2.5º higher than average. In December it was 1.4º higher and in January this year it was also 0.6º above the historic average.
The Spanish Meteorological Agency, AEMET, says that the period between March last year and January this is the warmest seen in Málaga since official records began in 1943.
