Tele 5 has been ordered by the magistrates in the Civil section of the Supreme Court to compensate Spanish diva, Isabel Pantoja, for questioning her sexuality.
The private TV channel was found guilty of invading the privacy of the singer after comments were made by Idelfonso Peral Gil on the programme ‘A Tu Lado’, broadcast in January 2004.
Tele 5 have to pay her 30,000 €, half the 60,000 € awarded to her by the lower Madrid Provincial Court as the upper chamber considered that her honour had not been violated by the comments, but her privacy had. The court considered that although she was a public figure she had the right to personal and family intimacy as guaranteed to all people in the Spanish Constitution.
