Rain in Jerez on Thursday night - EFE
The city's airport is also closedHeavy rain on Thursday night has isolated Jerez by motorway and train today, and also closed the local airport.
The toll motorway AP-4 is flooded and closed at the 80km point.
The train line is flooded between Lebrija and Jerez and services between Sevilla and Córdoba have also had to be suspended on the conventional line. The AVE high speed line remains open.
Jerez airport was closed on Thursday night as the rain forced the suspension when access to the terminal building was cut. The basement of the airport building is flooded and because it houses the electrical installations they have had to be turned off.
The runway is reported to be ‘full of mud and stones’, but it is hoped to get the airport back open sometime on Friday afternoon. 24 flights, 12 arrivals and 12 departures, are programmed today.
