Madrid gay couple buy a flat from the Popelarger |
smallerBy h.b. - Feb 23, 2010 - 9:40 AMThe property had been left to the Pope by a devout woman.Pope John Paul II inherited a flat in Madrid, and sold it on to a couple of gay men.
The flat, in Calle La Paloma, was left to the Pope in the will of a devout woman, and it was the
Nuncio Apostólico who mediated in the sale of the property to the couple.
Alberto and Miguel Ángel have commented that ‘the Church does not love us, but is happy to do business’.
The gay couple, who are now married, also against the Church’s wishes, now enjoy dinner parties showing the escrituras (deeds) of the flat with the name of the Pope.
