Spanish Priest suspended after allegedly spending 17,000 Euro on sex

A 27 year old priest who has only been in the priesthood for less than a year has been suspended by the Catholic Church in Noez y Totanés after what the Toledo Archbishop detected what he called ‘economic irregularities’ came to light.

It appears that the he could have spent 17,000 € on erotic phone calls, internet pages with sexual content and in local brothels.
He also advertised his own sex services for money, even showing his face on some Internet pages.

It seems the priest confessed to his congregation during Midnight Mass on February 7 that he had ‘taken money from the brotherhoods’ promising to meet with them in an effort to correct the situation.
Local Mayor of Noez, Yolanda Sánchez, admitted that there had been comments that the priest had spent the money on sex, adding that the Archbishop had done the correct thing.
‘This is a very small village and everything is talked about and told’, she said.

The Priest now faces the Church’s disciplinary process, and the local diocese will reimburse the brotherhoods who are out of pocket.
