The EU Moroccan Summit takes place on March 7The first EU summit which comes as part of the Spanish Presidency of the union takes place in Granada on March 7th and is between the EU and Morocco. It’s also the first meeting between the union and Morocco after a statute of ‘advanced association’ was agreed in October 2008.
However it has been announced that King Mohamed VI is not expected to attend, with the Moroccan delegation being led by the Prime Minister, Abás el Fassi. Although the King has a large amount of executive power in Morocco, he does not normally attend such events, a statement said.
Meanwhile the Spanish Prime Minister, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, welcomed the 27 commissioners from the EU Commission to the Pardo Palace in Madrid on Tuesday, for a meeting postponed from January because then the commissioners had not been ratified by the European Parliament.
