The third terminal opens on March 15, but the train station will not be ready until the end of the yearThe Minister for Development, José Blanco, was in Málaga on Tuesday to see the new third terminal at the city’s airport. He told the press that the building would be ‘a very important impulse for something that is the economic motor of Andalucía, tourism’.
The facility is officially opened in 12 days time on March 15, but the new train station will not be ready until the end of the year. Until then trains will stop at the current airport station which is accessible by an overhead walkway.
The delay on the new train station comes as the line is to be made double track between the airport and the city and therefore new electrifying work is still being carried out. When completed it will allow trains to run every 20 minutes.
