There was a counter demonstration in BarcelonaThere were large anti-abortion rallies across the country on Sunday in protest at the changes to the legislation passed in the Senate last week.
More than 100 demonstrations were held across the country, with the largest in Madrid attracting about 10,000 people. Other main demos were in Barcelona, Sevilla, Toledo, Ávila and Bilbao.
There were several Partido Popular politicians on the pro-life rallies who consider the new law allows for ‘indiscriminate abortion’ and introduces the doctrine of abortion into the schools.
In Barcelona there was a counter demonstration from a women’s collective and the regional police had to keep the two sides apart.
