ABC gives the story prominence and notes the idea has been established without the Spanish Presidency. However the European Central Bank has rejected the idea because it is against the legislation.

El Mundo leads with more on the ETA informant case and says that the main suspect, the ex Director of Police, Victor García Hidalgo, is to be named a board member of the Caja Vital savings bank. The paper says it is a step towards one of the most lucrative posts in the Álava savings bank. It has a large photo of him on the front page and describes him as the man who forgot everything in court, including his mobile phone.

El País reports that the General Council for Judicial Power and the Partido Popular are defending the Supreme Court against Judge Baltasar Garzón. The paper says that Rajoy and the Council have criticised the cabinet for praising the magistrate.
EL Mundo notes that the General Council for Judicial Power has criticised Zapatero for ‘influencing’ in favour of Judge Baltasar Garzón. Rajoy has accused Zapatero of supporting Garzón but not Eloy Velasco, the judge insulted by Hugo Chávez, President of Venezuela.
(Zapatero went on TV last night and called for respect for Velasco and José María Aznar)
ABC headlines that the judiciary has demanded that the Government respect its independence.
It says the cabinet has been obliged to come out in defence of Aznar after the attacks from Venezuela.

Público headlines that the General Council for Judicial Power has attacked those who have defended Garzón. The paper says they consider praising the work of the National Court magistrate could have a ‘delegitimizing’ effect.

El País notes that the Government has now decided not to regulate Google and withdrawn the idea to demand that Google pay other companies for their use of the internet.

Público notes that Portugal has announced an increase in taxes on the rich, and that it will be privatising companies to raise cash.

El Mundo says that five months after the Government announced the creation of a figure to help companies get credit, spending 10 million € on the idea, only one credit has bee achieved by the 65 retired people taken on for the job.

El País says that the sanctions imposed on Manuel Cobo and Ricardo Costa in the PP has divided the party.

Also that the Junta de Andalucía is to give 1,800 € to women who can show that they have been discriminated against in the Franco years.
