The olive and strawberry harvests are those most affectedThe Junta de Andalucía has estimated that the Huelva strawberry sector has lost a crop worth 77 million € because of the recent storms. Councillor for Agriculture for the province of Huelva, Esperanza Cortés, visited some of the affected areas on Monday, and told Europa Press that the damage done was irreparable.
In Córdoba the small farmers union ASAJA has estimated the damage to crops in the province at 250 million €, while the Agriculture Councillor there, Francisco Zurera, said there were still 40,000 tons of olives to collect in the province.
Meanwhile Javier Arenas, the head of the PP in Andalucía, has criticised the Prime Minister for not visiting the flood-affected areas in the region.
