Marbella Town Hall has put a price on the Malaya corruption case in the town – more than 500 million €.
The largest political and town planning corruption case seen in Spain has left a back hole in the Marbella Town Hall accounts which has been described as ‘incalculable’ upto now, but on Tuesday the municipal spokesman, Felix Romero, said they now know it is 512 million €, not including interest.
‘That’s the amount which should have remained in the municipal accounts and is now missing’, he said. However putting a sum on the amount lost to the town because of the bad publicity of the case was impossible to quantify.
Earlier the Tribunal de Cuentas said that each of the 132,662 people on the census in the town had each lost 2,669 € because of the corruption.
