Fernando Alonso says that he is prepared to win the first Formula One race of the season in Bahrain

The driver from Asturias said that he felt at home in Ferrari as soon as he arrived, and told a press conference on Thursday that he had waited a long time to be with Ferrari. He said they had prepared well over the winter, and now he was ready to fight, and he thought he was in a position to win races.

Asked who he thought the main rivals would be in the new season he named– Red Bull, Mercedes, McLaren, adding that he thought teams such as Sauber and Force India could also see good results.

He said the return of Michael Schumacher was a surprise, but having him there was good for the sport, and he said he was looking forward to some good duels.

Alonso also said he was pleased with the decision to have no refuelling during the race, describing it as a challenge for everyone, the engineers, the drivers and it represented the chance to discover something new in the sport.
