A 34 year old Portuguese man and a 21 year old Spanish woman have been arrested by the Local Police in Málaga, accused of ill-treating their three year old son.
The child had an open wound on one of his fingers and a heavily swollen ankle and told police that his father had kicked him. A statement from the police said reports from the child’s nursery say that he would often attend with bruises and small injuries, and that he had problems of appetite and unjustified absence.
A police unit went to the nursery to confirm the claims and then tried unsuccessfully to contact the parents as the child was taken with his teacher to the Materno Infantil Hospital in Málaga.
He remains there under observation.
The police statement says the parents were later arrested and will appear in court shortly.
