La Vila Casino in Benidorm closes down

121 jobs will be lost

The recession and the explosion in online gaming are being blamed for the closure of the casino at La Vila in Benidorm after 30 years.

The company has presented an ERE employment regulation for the 121 workers at the Casino and announced that their doors will not open today. Unions were called to a meeting on Thursday, knowing nothing of the seriousness of the situation.

Owners, Casinos del Mediterráneo, has however given an undertaking to keep the 208 other jobs at its two remaining casinos in the province, in the Marina Deportiva next to Alicante Port, and in Torrevieja.
