Spanish football clubs in the Primera Liga have started to complain about the friendly international game which has been set between Spain and Mexico for August 11 at the Aztec stadium in Mexico.
It’s a FIFA game which means that the clubs have to hand their players over to Vicente del Bosque, but the date means the players would hardly have had any time to train at the clubs, just a month after the end of the World Cup. In theory the players have the right to a month off.
The Spanish Football Federation will collect a million € for the match, which was put in the calendar back in April.
Meanwhile the calendar for next season’s Primera Liga matches has been announced with the classic Barcelona-Real Madrid game on November 28 with the return game on April 17.
Barcelona’s last game of the season will be in Málaga, while Real Madrid will also be in Andalucía for their last match against Almería.
The season starts on August 29 when Barça visit Racing and Mallorca play host to Real Madrid.
