The Spanish Government has relieved its ambassador to Austria, after Josep Pons, who is also the current Chairman of Real Mallorca, has been accused of sexual abuse by a worker in the Spanish embassy. The Spanish Foreign Ministry is investigating the allegation and will decide whether a penal process will begin.
It has been a bad time for Real Mallorca; yesterday UEFA banned them from European competition because they are in bankruptcy protection. Diplomatic sources are quoted by Servimedia as saying that Pons had requested to be relieved from his post so he can concentrate on the problems of Mallorca although it’s understood he does not want to give up his diplomatic career.
He has denied taking part in any sexual abuse in the case which he told El Mundo dates back to June last year.
