It was a good day for Spain on Tuesday at the European Swimming Championships in Budapest.

Rafa Muñoz celebrated a return to form with a gold medal in the 50 metres butterfly where he clocked 23.17, and came in ahead of Frederick Bousquet and Evgeny Korotyshkin.

Muñoz has held the world record at the distance since April last year when he clocked 22.43 using one of the controversial whole body swimsuits.

Duane da Rocha also saw success with a bronze in the 200 metres backstroke.

The two medals come in addition to the four silvers obtained by the synchronized swimmers in the first phase of the competition.
