The Coast Guard rescued another 22 people from the sea, when their boat capsized off the Isla de Alborán
Two illegal immigrants have drowned when an open-topped boat capsized off the Isla de Alborán on Sunday. Another 22 survivors have been rescued from the heavy seas.
The Naval attachment on the island advised the Coast Guard after spotting that the vessel was in difficulties in the heavy seas and high winds. The boat had already capsized and all its passengers were in the sea by the time they arrived.
Eight of the survivors were flown to Almería by helicopter, and the other 14 were evacuated by the Coast Guard to Motril.
