The Guardia Civil has broken up what they are describing as one of the most important international hashish trafficking networks.
Two hauls of drugs totalling 1.9 tons were made in Estepona and Motril in April and in August, and 15 arrests made, including the man thought to be the head of the gang, named as Abdellaziz Z.M. who was arrested in Barcelona, and the man responsible for the logistical side of the operation with links to Málaga, Ceuta and Barcelona, named as Antonio S.S.
The drugs were moved from Morocco to Spain and then on to third countries, mostly Italy and Holland.
Guardia Civil have codenamed the operation ‘Pincel’ and say it started back in February in collaboration with the customs who discovered the gang operated in three separate groups. Most of those involved lived in the west of Almería province.
