The Cultural Association of Spanish Workers on Gibraltar, ASTECG, from La Linea, has called a demonstration in the first half of September to show their rejection of the idea of a toll which the local Town Hall wants to impose on visitors to the Rock.
The association has some 4,000 members, who would actually be exempt from the toll, but they think it could lead to a large number of job losses. They have called on the PP Mayor of La Linea, Alejandro Sánchez, to change his mind.
They note also the opening of a second ferry from Algeciras to Gibraltar and other ways to reach Gibraltar, some of them cheaper than the 5€ toll planned in La Linea, and are also planning a petition against the plan.
