26 year old Briton dies after fall from hotel balcony

It happened at 0740am on Sunday morning and it is thought the man had been trying to jump into the swimming pool

The crazy fashion of young tourists, often drunken Brits, of jumping off hotel balconies into swimming pools has seen another fatality.

The 26 year old Briton, who has not been named as yet in reports, was holding a party in the apartment block where he was staying at Puerto Adriano, Calvià on Mallorca when he fell to his death from a fifth floor balcony.

It happened at about 7,40am on Sunday morning according to Guardia Civil sources, and emergency services are quoted by El Mundo as saying that most possible cause was another case of ‘balconing’. Emergency services say that he was dead when they arrived at the scene from significant head injuries.

Hoteliers on the Baleares have been considering introducing new safety measures to stop youngsters jumping off balconies into swimming pools.
