The work is being carried out before the high season and affects the towns of Estepona, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella and Manilva on the Western Costa del Sol, and Vélez Málaga, Algarrobo, and Rincón de la Victoria on the Eastern coast.
The sand has been dredged from river beds, fishing ports and marinas.
Costas are also investing a further 2.1 million € in an eco-cartographic study of Málaga’s coastline. It will be ready in July and will serve to specify areas suitable for construction, for ports and marinas, and areas where beach regeneration occurs naturally.
