24 arrests as more than 4,000 stolen archaeological items are recovered by police

A total of 24 people have been arrested and more than 4,000 items of archaeological interest have been recovered as a gang of treasure traffickers was broken up. The police operation was carried out in Madrid, Cataluña, Andalucia, Aragón and Extremadura, according to the National Police.
Those who are thought to have lost valuable archaeological items are invited by police to call their hotline for the case 91 322 10 65

The Malaga sculptor, Miguel Berrocal, has died at the age of 73 in Antequera. He has an international reputation for his portable sculptures and was born in Villanueva de Algaidas.

The 9th International Festival of Photography and the Visual Arts has opened in the Madrid Botanical Garden. The Tarifa born sculptor, Guillermo Pérez Villalta, has opened a new show in Seville. Called ‘artifice’ it shows 100 pieces and can be found in the exhibition centre of the Caja de San Fernando in the Plaza de San Francisco. The items date from as early as 1976. Pérez Villalta won the National Plastics Arts prize in 1985.

The Summercase festival takes place in Madrid and Barcelona next month with a star line up.
The action takes place on July 14 and 15, with gigs divided between the cities of Madrid and Barcelona, with the bill swapping on both days.
The venues are the Boadilla Del Monte in Madrid and the Parc Del Forum in Barcelona.
