Some beaches on the Costa Tropical were closed by the authorities yesterday because of high jellyfish numbersThere is concern on the Costa del Sol that a massive smuck of jellyfish is about to hit the tourist beaches of the costa, as has already been seen in Granada province.
Special teams have been set up to look for the jellyfish by both Nerja and Torrox councils.
The creatures have been attracted to the shore by the high temperatures, the lack of rain, and some would say are a consequence of global warming.
Mayor of Málaga,
Francisco de la Torre, said he hoped the jellyfish would stay on the eastern Costa del Sol where, he said sea temperatures were warmer.
