The line will be officially opened on Saturday and will cut journey times from Málaga to Madrid by half an hour
It has been confirmed that the Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, will officially open the new AVE high speed train link between Córdoba and Antequera, this Saturday.
The new link will reduce journey time to the capital from Málaga to 3 hours 50 minutes with services starting on Sunday. 6 trains a day will offer prices between 55 and 93 €.
The AVE will be extended down to Málaga City by the end of next year when journey times will be reduced to just two and a quarter hours.
Meanwhile the Regional Council for Public Works has said that the new AVE link to Seville from Málaga is now under construction along 25% of its length. That line opens in 2010.
