The opposition say the Government anti-piracy plans will not work

The Partido Popular have blamed internet and other piracy for the fall in spectator numbers at Spanish cinemas this year.

Beatriz Rodríguez-Salmones, the PP Culture Spokesperson, has said it’s impossible for the Government’s anti-piracy plan to work.

The number of Spaniards to go to the cinema has fallen by 2% over the year to 14.55%, and that means 6 million fewer tickets were sold this year compared to last.
