smallerBy m.p. - Dec 26, 2006 - 10:19 PMIt comes after news from Germany of traces of unauthorised pesticides found on peppers from AlmeríaAndalucia’s regional government say they will impose fines of 120,000 € on any farmer who uses unauthorised pesticides on crops cultivated in plastic greenhouses.
The announcement came on Tuesday from the Junta de Andalucía’s agriculture and fisheries representative in Almería province, Juan Deus. His statement follows the news from Germany several days ago that residues of unauthorised pesticides had been detected on peppers imported from Almería.
Deus said the use of illegal insecticides are isolated cases rather than the norm, but are damaging to the image of the province on the foreign market.
